In West Palm Beach, a disastrous accident has turned into a criminal case after Diego Pascual was accused of purposely hitting a family in the area. The charged offender was linked with the killing of one woman and injuring another four people when he plowed his SUV into the family. According to one news source, the offender turned himself in once he realized the weight of what he had done. His remorse was apparent when he arrived at the jail to confess his crime. Diego Pascual was angry at his live-in girlfriend, a 17-year-old girl named Ana when she wouldn’t return his keys to him. He had told her he aimed to go to a bar that night and she refused to allow him to drive to the establishment.

In retaliation, he says that hit Ana with a door. This angered her parents, and caused them to attack him. Pascual eventually left and bought a pack of 18 beers at a liquor store. He began consuming the alcohol outside of the store, and then drove to a friend’s house. He later went out searching for the family. He decided he wanted to “scare” and potentially “hurt” them. They weren’t at home, but he managed to locate them through the window of a local convenience store. As they were walking home, he floored the SUV to 50 mph, bowling them over in a bloody incident.

His actions killed his girlfriend’s mother, 37-year-old Cristina Andres. Ana’s father and two of her siblings were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. She was also harmed in the attack. One member of the family was able to jump out of the way in time and remained unscathed. Pascual is currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder and five-counts of attempted murder.

While Ana and her father are still in the hospital recovering, the three younger siblings, ages 10, 6, and 3 have been released. The two youngest children have severe road rash on their faces which is being treated at home.
